The History of Dalkeith

Named Dalkeith after his birthplace in Scotland, Adam Armstrong acquired a large estate originally for farmland in 1831. After the farm was purchased by James Gallop around 1839 and he went on to establish it into a thriving market garden, supplying the Perth and Fremantle areas with its produce.

Residential development began around the 1920’s and 30’s when there was extensive clearing of the bushland in both Nedlands and Dalkeith, and the suburb began to grow. A peninsula that is bordered by the Swan River on 3 sides, Dalkeith provides a wonderful waterfront lifestyle for residents and is home to some of the most affluent and prestigious properties in Perth.
